Hanford Area CHP Report Fatal Collision

On January 26, 2018, at approximately 2154 hours, the Fresno Communication Center (FCC) received a call of a traffic collision with two subjects laying in the roadway. Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Hanford Area Office responded to the scene and investigated the collision.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined a 2016 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling westbound on State Route 198 and took the exit toward State Route 43. For reasons unknown at this time, the driver lost control of the motorcycle. Both the driver and passenger were ejected form the motorcycle. The driver sustained fatal injuries. The passenger of the motorcycle complained of pain to her head and chest.
Moments after the initial collision, Ms. Torres was driving a 2008 Honda westbound on State Route 198 to State Route 43. The Honda struck the male driver, who was laying in the roadway.
The cause of this collision remains under investigation. It appears alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this collision.
