On March 10, 2018 at 2:50 p.m., Sergeant Jesus Parras was on patrol in the area of Bluff Drive and Pike Street. The sergeant encountered two people in a parked vehicle. He recognized the passenger as Eduardo Morales, 33 of Los Banos. Morales was an active Parolee at Large, who has been on the run. Morales ran into the home in the 700 block of Bluff Drive as the Sergeant approached.
As additional police units were establishing a perimeter around the home, Morales fled on foot heading northbound on Bluff Drive toward the CCID canal. Ofc. Carter was the closest officer to Morales. Ofc. Carter chased Morales to the canal access point on Bluff Drive. Ofc. Carter began to chase Morales on foot, and K-9 Maverick was deployed. Morales was able to cross the bridge onto Page Avenue. Ofc. Carter and Maverick actively chased Morales at a distance.
Once Morales reached Page Avenue, Ofc. Carter lost sight of Morales. A perimeter was established in the immediate area. The officers planned to do a yard-to-yard search, when a citizen told officers Morales was seen running near Page Avenue and Hillview Drive. K-9 Maverick alerted to the suspect’s presence at a home in the 1800 block of Hillview Drive. Ofc. Carter saw Morales hiding behind a wall in an enclosed front patio.
Ofc. Carter and Maverick confronted Morales, and Morales submitted to officers. Morales was taken into custody pursuant to the felony arrest warrant without further incident. Morales was booked into the LBPD Jail where in remains in custody (no bail warrant).
