Modesto CHP Report Fatal Collision

On 07/19/2018 at approximately 2210 hours, the Merced Communication Center (MCC) received a call of a traffic collision on S. 7th Street south of Pecos Avenue. Officers from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Modesto Area Office responded to the scene and investigated the
collision.
During the course of the investigation it was determined, Ms. Toledo was driving a 2006 Toyota Sienna traveling northbound on S. 7th Streetsouth of Pecos Avenue at approximately 25 miles per hour. A 57 year old male was riding his bicycle westbound across S. 7th Street and entered into the path of the Toyota from the dirt shoulder. Ms. Toledo was unable to avoid a collision and struck the bicycle and rider. This collision caused the rider to be ejected from his bicycle and he came to rest on the east shoulder of S. 7th Street. The rider was transported to Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
