Recently the Merced County Office of Education presented the 2012 Annual Education report for Merced County. The meeting/luncheon was held here in Los Banos at the Community Center with County Superintendent Steven Gomes addressing the crowd of educators, businesses, county and local administrators in attendance.
Prior to the report given by Dr. Gomes, others on the agenda gave talks pertaining to their views of the importance of education regarding programs used within the county. 2012 Merced County Teacher of the Year, Valentina Mascorro (Los Banos Junior High teacher), spoke about the MESA Program and how students have gained knowledge not only in classroom situations, but by becoming involved in competitions, and visiting college campuses throughout California.
