On April 27th the Los Banos Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire in a vacant Motel in the 1600 Block of Pacheco. Upon arrival, Firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire involving 3 of the Motel units as well as extending into the attic area. The Motel has been vacant for a number of years and has recently been the site of three other major fires. Based on the fact that the three previous fires had caused extensive damage to the structure and that the structure has been scheduled for demolition, the Fire Department used a defensive attack to suppress the fire. A total of four Engines, a Ladder Truck and 19 Firefighters were used to extinguish the fire.
