I had the great pleasure of meeting Vasco Cordeiro, the President of the Regional Government of the Azores last Tuesday evening, August 26th. My wife and I had been invited to the home of Rusty Areias, former Assemblyman, who along with Congressman Jim Costa, hosted the dinner and reception for President Cordeiro.
The evening was quite enjoyable in numerous ways. Not only in meeting this individual who had traveled to our state to learn more about our economy, but to realize the importance of how people of Azorean-Portuguese descent have made valuable contributions to our Central Valley, and to the State of California.
