The American Cancer Society held its Relay For Life event at the Pacheco High School field, Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st.
The two day, yearly event, has raised one million dollars over the last fifteen years in the fight against cancer. During the opening ceremonies on Saturday morning, Cassie Gunther spoke along with Mayor Mike Villalta and this year’s event organizer Teresa Fournier. Debbie Hoover entertained the audience with a beautiful rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings and our National Anthem. After the opening lap for all of the cancer survivors, each survivor received a gift bag from the survivor booth manned by Ruth Cherroni, Ashley Parker, Sara and Andria Posey. Each relay team had their own booth with information, games, and gifts for each survivor who visited their booth with a gift coupon. For full article, please purchase a copy of The Paper.
