Working Holidays Past
A couple of weeks ago I was visiting with my old friend Jerry Barcellos. He brought out a box of pictures he had inherited along with the house he lives in, which was for many happy years, the home of Mary “Sam” Barcellos and her husband Big John. That house on Idaho is the repository of countless fond and nostalgic memories from my youthful friendship with Jerry and his family. In fact, I was there so much that Mary, AKA by her nickname Sam, became a second mother to me as I “adopted” her as my Mexican Mama. From that time forward from the early 70’s I always called her “Mom” and she in turn called me “Son”, and that is what we called one another until she passed a couple of years ago.
-So back to that box of pics. My eye caught the one shown here and having it sit on my desk gives me great enjoyment as I look at the faces. First on the far left, there is “Pat” Patricio. Then the two next men, and the man kneeling in front I cannot identify, perhaps someone will help me out. Third from the right is Big John Barcellos, then Mr. Patricio Sr., and son Ben Patricio on the right. For full article, please purchase a copy of The Paper.
